Soma -
I'm sorry to keep using up your time like this, but if you've any spare I've a few more sketches I'd enjoy sharing with you.

And you, dear lord Lingormr?

For myself, a reply from you has brightened my day considerably.
no subject
Then I'm glad. I'd hate to see you in dampened spirits.
no subject
You do me honor. I endeavor to maintain a cheery facade whenever possible, but I prefer it to be no facade at all. Is there anything I might do to similarly brighten the lady's day?
no subject
I'm afraid there's no simple answer to that. Though I must admit, you've done a great deal already.
no subject
You do me honor again. I am glad to know that even these poor words have helped.
For the sake of curiosity, did the lady have an interesting evening? Or I suppose I should rather frame it as talk of interesting dreams, since that seems the common parlance.
no subject
I always enjoy our little chats. More than you may know.
A very interesting evening. I dreamed of things that belonged to me outside these walls, or a me, I should say. There's getting to be a ridiculous number of those at this point...
And I dreamed of dead men.
no subject
Fascinating. I wonder if I might have a similar dream some night. Though that opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities for raw materials.
Dead men? That hardly sounds pleasant.
no subject
It isn't a difficult dream to reach.
I sometimes find dead men quite pleasant, when in my dreams they live and breathe.
no subject
And has been pointed out to me, upon our... release from this place, there may be no requirement that we return from whence we came. An interesting thought, is it not?
If the way is simple, perhaps I shall have such dreams myself sooner rather than later.
And I suppose that depends upon how one felt about the dead man to begin with. Though much that was thought dead seems to be quite alive here, from what I've heard.
no subject
I could tell you how, if you truly wish. It was...an interesting dream.
I think 'dead' is just a state of mind. I've seen many living men, walking about as dead inside as a corpse in its grave. Such a sad state.
no subject
Ah, we've gone from the metaphorical to the metaphysical. You do like to keep me on my toes, don't you.
Though I think in that state, the dead at least have a chance to returning to life, should they wish to leave the comforting confines of their grave.
no subject
Ah, but there's the rub! If they so desire. How on earth does one urge a stubbornly dead thing to live again?
no subject
Really, I look at questions like that in terms of poking a bear with a stick. It all depends upon the disposition of the bear and the method by which you proceed to poke.
And also on why you desire to do so in the first place.
But when it comes to a metaphysical conundrum such as this, dearest, I think the corpse must want at least a little to be dragged from their grave. Otherwise you might spend a lot of time digging, only to discover you've climbed in with them and have subsequently buried yourself up to the neck. So do be careful.
no subject
...you've no idea what an apt comparison you've made. I'm afraid all my experiences lay with men, not bears. And this one is a particularly snarly one. But sad, too. Beaten and broken. I...don't like to see a great and proud beast brought low.
I suppose you're right. There's too much grave dirt on me as is.
no subject
Well, my experience related to my viking brethren of course, but there is little difference between men and bears when all is sad and done, though bears tend to spend less time drunk.
How sad to hear. I have witnessed such things in the animal kingdom... bears used for baiting or trained to dance. It is a most depressing sight indeed.
Another animal metaphor springs to mind... one can lead a horse to water, but cannot force him to drink.
no subject
In my experience men are far more like dogs. Confused and easily led and always looking to be a step up in the pack. But this one...he's no dog.
Or driven and whipped and ripped from their habitat and forced to live in a world that isn't their own. Can any beast ever truly recover from such a thing?
no subject
And to whomever this
LigormLiniLingormr is, I suggest you keep your distance from Lust. She's misleading and manipulative and I know exactly what you're trying. I suggest you stop, because it isn't going to work.-Snarly Bear
no subject
Really, Mr. Snarly Bear, are you in a position to tell me what I ought and ought not to do? Or to tell the lady what she is and isn't to do?
Somehow, I find this doubtful.
no subject
You do realize I've mentioned no specifics or names this entire exchange? Or even given any indication I was discussing someone here? And I doubt many people are terribly interested in the philosophical flirtations Lingormr and I engage in. I'm not even certain why you read this in the first place.
Lingormr, by the way, is a big boy. He can take care of himself.

It depends upon the beast, really. Some adapt. The rest... are not so fortunate. It depends upon one's drive to survive and come out on top, no?
