... That was 50 years ago for me. What year does this Institute exist in?

It's hard to say for sure. I haven't found the date on anything -- not even newspapers.

I see. Then it's likely they are trying to prevent us from finding out. But for what reason?

To keep us everyone confused, maybe.

As is already apparent with the fact that night time at Landel's seems to be drastically different from its day time appearance.

I think not knowing the year is more disconcerting than the differences between night and day. There are other things worse than that, too.
