Well, so maybe it didn't solve much, but at least it'll help with theories, right?  I marked all the locations people gave me, but I can't see a discernible pattern to support the hallucinogen theory.  I also thought it might've had a centralized location if it'd been something to do with soundwaves, but it doesn't look like that's the case either.

There's also the possibility that it mostly affected those going to places that are usually under heavy guard.  The route to the basement is almost like a trail.  But it doesn't account for the ones who hadn't even left their rooms.  Maybe it was a waste of time but at least it eliminated some of the possible theories, right?  Any idea why there wasn't any activity at all on the East side of the building on either floor?  Do people just not go there often?  Any ideas or discussion would be helpful.

[Agh, I fail and just used the maps from the comm.  So please pretend that they aren't nearly as detailed as the one shown here.  Also, the hallways aren't labeled and only major rooms have been named.]

There was some activity on the east side of the second floor.

Interesting. Most of the events occurred in or near areas frequented by patients during the day. The autopsy room and the outside appear to be the only major outliers.

(And did you make an error? One of the dots on the second floor is inside the Sun Room, putting it approximately in midair.)

On the other hand, it may have simply meant there was a greater density of individuals in those areas and that the attacks simply hit a random sample of the population.

I'd been wondering what the arrows meant. So he was well enough to walk that far while still being affected?

It would be helpful if we had more demographic information, to see the differences between those who were affected and those who were not based on more than location.

But under the circumstances, it's probably impossible.

I'd like to note that psychological damage does still count as harm and is very unpleasant. I'd like to find some way of ensuring it does not happen again.

Interesting results. Thank you.

It's possible that the rooms on the east side of the building simply aren't as useful to patients. On the first floor the rooms are are mostly doctor's offices and on the second most of the rooms are file rooms, or contain tools that could be found in other more accessible areas of the Institute.

The majority of experiences I've taken down proceeded as follows:

1. Flickering walls/ 'glitches'
2. Seeing a 'ghost' of a dead loved one
3. Hearing 'voices'
4. Experiencing said loved one's death exactly, complete with visible symptoms
5. Waking up the following morning

It is interesting to note that seeing the 'glitches' of stage one was not limited to those who continued through the following four stages; I myself noted precisely the same thing, but did not experience 'death'. This would suggest that there was a turning point some time in the night at which stages 2-5 were set in motion for some.

Psychologically speaking, one must first determine what the purpose of the attack was, be it torture, an expression of control or an accident brought about by malfunction in the Institute's programming- certainly, IRIS' breakdown would suggest as much. However, the following message was played in binary before stage 2 was reached: "The dead can be more alive for us, more powerful, more scary, than the living. It is the question of ghosts". Even without dissecting the quote, one can clearly see that it relates immediately to stages 2-4. Given that it is highly unlikely that IRIS would be programmed to play such a message on breaking down, one would conclude that events were deliberate.

Just who set events in motion and why, however, I am rather more reluctant to share in such a public place. I have a working theory, but it relies on whether or not we hear from Landel at the beginning of the night.

Some walls flickered and wavered as though they were holograms. Fleeting glimpses of false hallways, pipes, or even skeletons could be seen out of the corner of one's eye.

I personally made note of the reference to 'ghosts' as specific to last night, although it isn't out of the question that it referred to both nights. But while it's true that it must have been pre-programmed in some way, I'm still inclined to think its initiation was deliberate. It's possible that the hacker input the binary as a means of activating last night's events- the hacker breaking in and the binary being played happened one after the other, especially given IRIS' apparent tendency to speak aloud input commands. Of course, I still don't know enough about the Institute's system to make any definite calls.

[a couple of scribbled-out false starts]

Sakura-san, I have to go do some things tonight, but all the supplies I found are in the closet in my room if you wanted to stop by and take a look?

I'm in M7. I'll leave the list on my desk, but everything's in a box in my closet, and I don't mind if you go through it.
