Nothing wrong with Spandex costumes. I'll draw the line at wearing the underwear outside, but if you're going to be fighting it's best to do it in something form-fitting.
A cape is just asking to get caught on something. And it's noisy. There's nothing wrong with small adornments but anyone wearing a cape in seriousness deserves what they get for it.
And...it's probably better to stick to grays and dark blues in terms of color.
I used to work alone too, and I have a friend and team mate who did the 'lone hero' bit. Actually... he still does it.
