Can anyone here tell me what planet we're on right now, by chance?

And secondly, can anyone give me word on the current condition of Expel?

[identity profile] arc-wrench.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Statement: This boring, totally isolated little planet is called 'Earth' by its natives.

[identity profile] arc-wrench.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Rhetorical: How should I know, meatbag? I had never even heard of this planet, or even this star system before finding myself trapped here!

[identity profile] gotahunch.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
...'Meatbag'? You're a few screws short of a starship, aren't you?

[identity profile] arc-wrench.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Disagreement: 'Meatbag' is a simple, descriptive term that can be used to characterize all organic life. I like to use it. Even if I did not, my Master ordered that I use it. Master found it quite amusing and accurate.

So it's true, we're really in a different world?! This is terrible...

[identity profile] arc-wrench.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Affirmative: Yes, stuck on a little, backwards planet that hasn't even developed any interstellar capabilities, according to most meatbags here. Very depressing.

Did something happen? As far as I know, Expel is fine.

What, you know Expel!?!!

Wait, you're not from Expel, are you?

[identity profile] gotahunch.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I can't really give you any details about what's going on now. I know some history, and I passed by last time I was in the Theta Sector, but that's about it. I guess you're from Expel then? What's your name?

[identity profile] part1of3.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm from Expel!!! It's a very nice place, but we don't get many, uh.. visitors? None, in fact.

My name is Ashton Anchors. Normally at this point I'd introduce the dragons on my back, but.. uh.. ... yeah. Hahaha, what's your name?

[identity profile] gotahunch.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Dragons? That's pretty cool. My name's Cliff Fittir. It sounds like we're from the same universe at least. We should meet up and chat sometime.

Just the stuff everyone knows. I know the people are sort of a mixed bag, and the Quadratic Keys come from there. 'Probably not the best place to discuss this though.

I don't know if I ever told any of the people from Expel, but Earth is actually where I'm from. But why are people calling it backwards? It's certainly not underveloped by any means.

I'm just sorry you got stuck with such a terrible welcome wagon.

[identity profile] gotahunch.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but there are a few planets called Earth around here. Some of them are still underdeveloped from the sound of it.

[identity profile] full-score.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
A few planets called Earth? But how is that possible? The odds of there being a bunch of planets with the same name are kind of slim, don't you think?

[identity profile] intoindra.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps not quite as slim as we would expect. For that matter, haven't you noticed that we're all speaking the same language, even though the chances for that are equally as slight? There are thousands of languages, most mutually incomprehensible, in one version of 'earth' alone. The chances that all of us, as a body, speak the same language considering the vagaries of time and space, are microscopically small.

Yet we all do. That means that we are all either quite insane, and speak the same language because we are all from the same area... or the words are somehow 'translated'. And if that is the case, then perhaps our various words for 'home planet' are translated as 'Earth' instead of some more cumbersome phrase.

It would be difficult to say without more evidence, but that's at least one theory.

That is an interesting theory.

Though the language I've been using here is English, I am capable of communicating in Japanese as well as a few others found upon the Earth that had two great wars known as World War I and World War II. The nurses didn't appreciate me speaking to them in Japanese and insisted I use English.

Yet, considering Earth is no longer my home, but a place I visit in the line of duty, that doesn't help much with the theory forming other than my knowledge that there are different planes of existence. I deal with three such planes in my line of duty, bu that doesn't mean there aren't more.
