Landel's Institute Patient Suggestions!

Landel's Institute Patient Suggestions!

Hello, everyone! Due to your good behavior and our constant desire to keep everyone as happy as they can possibly be, Dr. Landel has approved a staff request to allow the patients to submit suggestions for activities or new equipment!* Please take one of the yellow half-sheets from the pile next to the bulletin board and fill it out, then place it in the accompanying suggestion box. Do not attempt to tamper or "peek" into the suggestion box or place a form on the bulletin itself, please! Also please be sure to write down your actual name! Throughout the week (starting today), we will be sorting through these suggestions and implementing them!*

In addition to the comment sections, you will also find a poll for our newly formed "Sunday-SunRoom Movie Day"! Each Sunday from now on after brunch, we will be putting shades over the Sun Room's top window and arranging the seats to make a temporary theater! We'll then show the movie choice that has the most votes. Watching the movie is still entirely optional, and all the usual rooms activity will be available!

Thank you for your input! We value your opinion very highly at Landel's Institute and we are always happy to help or fill any special needs you may have.*

*Subject to Landel's Institute limitations and regulations.

OOC: For copypaste (you can pick and choose the sections that your character would be most interested in):

(( OOC: Comment with your character's forms (and whatever they put for their name in the subject line)! You may include either the full form or only portions of it, depending on what your character would fill out. PLEASE BE REALISTIC ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER'S RESPONSES AND THEIR CHOICE TO PARTICIPATE IN GENERAL. This is a poll for the characters, not their players, and should be treated as such. Additionally, keep in mind that these forms are not viewable by other patients and therefore should not be responded to; we also tried to pick out classic movies with a low chance of being apped from, but please let us know on the most recent mod post to [livejournal.com profile] damned_lounge or in private if you feel any of them might severely fourth-wall-puncture a character in-game. Thanks!))

If I am to be falsely imprisoned here for an indefinite period of time, I at least want to keep my mind in shape. Ergo, I request more opportunities to spend time in the Library instead of the Sun Room, preferably during the activities in which I hold no interest. The reading material selection is at least marginally better than the "offerings" on the bulletin board.

- Equipment Suggestions

For that matter, there should be a larger selection of non-fiction available, preferably in the genres of law and history. I also strongly suggest that you dispose of the worthless romance and metaphysical sections. They are filled with pure rubbish and tend to diminish literacy instead of increase it.

["Dr. Fuchs" has also written in one additional section:]

Meals:

I demand that you serve something besides greasy, cholesterol-laden foods for the lunch entrees. You claim I've had a "stroke," yet how can this food be healthy for a patient in my alleged condition?! The meager salads alone aren't sufficiently nourishing.

Furthermore, I ask that you include regular tea in your beverage offerings. This decaffeinated bilge water you do offer is offensive to my palate.

** Patients should be allowed to come into the Music Room far more often than just twice a week. That's completely absurd!

** Patients should also be allowed to carry CD players from room to room. Maybe people would like to listen to music while reading or drawing or eating. It might be nice to sit in the Sun Room and listen to music, too. It's not unreasonable or unmanageable, now is it?

- Equipment Suggestions

** GUI

** Several acoustic guitars would be nice to have. It's hardly an unreasonable request. Spruce wood would be most preferable for acoustics, but we could all be happy with Alder wood guitars as well. Alder is well balanced in tone isn't terribly expensive, so you have no excuse should be able to get a decent amount of them with little trouble. I could settle for a Walnut as well, even if it is a little too bass. Actually some bass acoustic guitars sound like a good idea as well. Maybe a few of each type so a nice range of tones and harmonies can be reached.

** And yes, more than one guitar would be most appreciated. Enough to go around without conflict would be nice.

** More keyboards. Only one keyboard for the populace is just cruel. I can understand the clash of different people playing different melodies at the same time can be mentally grating, but some compromises have to be made. It isn't fair the sole keyboard can only go to whoever gets to it first.

** An actual piano would be nice as well. A nice grand piano.

** Sound-proof headphones. These little things are ridiculous. How are we supposed to focus on the music when we can still hear everyone else talking and playing and whin going about their business?

** CD players that have higher volume control. These are far too low. See the above point.

** More CD players so people might be allowed to carry them outside the Music Room during the day.

** Music sheets for beginner, intermediate, and expert players. Not everyone is perfect and can make up platinum-selling melodies off the top of their head. Nor can the average person figure out how to play a beloved song by ear alone. Offer some music sheets for people to practice and play. For all instruments, I suppose, not just piano.

** Something so more people can maybe learn the art of music. Self-teaching booklets and sheets would be good.

Recreational Field:
- Activity Suggestions

** Have some organized team sports for patients. At least for the children. You can't really expect kids to organize their own games all the time.

Miscellaneous

** I also suggest patients be given access to hand sanitizers. Vile enough we can't bathe every day, we may as well be given access to something.

** I also suggest whoever is in charge of planning events be given access to a television with the weather channel.

Two showers a week is humiliating and unsanitary! I am in need of a daily shower and a respectable amount of time in which to ready myself for the day. I understand that you have no concern for the details of this charade, but this is a completely unnecessary insult.

Furthermore, I am unimpressed by the spellwork I see here. It's all very sloppy. Oh, it's grand, certainly, but overall quite amateur.

Answer: More to do with blood and corpses. I feel they are greatly overlooked mediums among the general population. It lends itself to all sorts of artistic tastes, such as line drawings (as supplied by knife wounds), cubism (badly done knife wounds), impressionism (stabbing weapons can create nice, even holes for an interesting pixellated effect), and abstract (of course provided by the ancient yet reliable standby of a metal slug delivered at high speed to the head, and its subsequent splattery exit).

- Equipment Suggestions

Statement: A selection of knives, ranged weapons (ranging in sophistication, so as to give those of all levels of tallent a chance to express themselves), and pens, wonderful makeshift weapons that they are given proper motivation.

Game Room:
- Activity Suggestions

Contemplation: I have heard tell of a game played in those benighted areas where blasters are not common, involving loading of one or more rounds into a slugthrower, and bets are placed on who will discover the ballistics potential of the slug(s) first. I think that would be very entertaining to watch.

- Equipment Suggestions

Assumption: You can sort that out, can't you? I thought these things were common on this planet.

Music Room:
- Activity Suggestions

Statement: While I could continue with the theme and simply write "screaming in agony and panic", I think it would be more productive to teach the meatbags here to sing certain 'welcoming songs' in various common galactic languages. The amusing part would be giving the songs lyrics to the tune of 'I think your reproductive organs are inferior and defective, but if that proves to have not been the case, I will hunt down and eat your children.' I can give many suggestions.

- Equipment Suggestions

Answer: Meatbags, and a decent sense of humor.

Library:
- Activity Suggestions

Query: Where are the books about famous assassins, murderers, tyrants and wars of pointless and terrible destruction wrought upon a thousand worlds? Those would be interesting.

- Equipment Suggestions

Statement: See above.

Chapel:
- Activity Suggestions

Statement: Sacrifice of sentients. That never goes out of style. Those so inclined can dress up in funny clothing in an attempt to look important, even.

- Equipment Suggestions

Answer: A sacrificial knife, altar, and if the cult calls for it, a bowl to catch the blood.

Recreational Field:
- Activity Suggestions

Admission: This has been done many times before, but I really have to suggest death matches. Their continuing popularity on various worlds, including the recent and apparently spectacular match between my master and Bendak Starkiller prove that it has an enduring appeal that has not waned, despite the prudishness of modern culture.

- Equipment Suggestions

Suggestion: Surprise us. Yes, blades and blasters can be most entertaining, but I personally think it would be more gratifying to see if anyone can win an unfairly lopsided mach such as, say, a cluster rocket launcher versus a sharpened spork.

Greenhouse:
- Activity Suggestions

Suggestion: More carniverous plants. Query: How do you expect the meatbags to learn how to get eaten by everything that moves on Kashyyyk or Duxn?

- Equipment Suggestions

Statement: This section is redundant, unless you want specific suggestions. I mostly deal in poisonous plant by-products, and am therefore unable to give a more comprehensive list.

Hygiene:

Sun Room:

Get rid of those blasted cats. Or keep them in a separate room. They are also unhygienic, and some of your patients may be allergic to them. Imposing them on such patients would be... criminally negligent of a self-proclaimed medical facility, would it not?

Lessons would, I believe, be an invaluable addition. My condition has lead to my distorting or outright forgetting many facts about the world; while I understand that the preferred policy may be to wait for it to naturally return to me, in the meantime, I remain confused and "out of the loop", so to speak. It would seem that my situation is not uncommon. Furthermore, over the course of the day I have observed several children and young persons; if they are not currently being educated in some manner, that is outright negligence!
