[in a passable copy of Lelouch's handwriting]

[it looks like Lelouch's handwriting at first glance, but people more familiar with how he writes will be able to tell that it's not him. Okayed with player first, and I'm also cool with people calling Brainy on this.]

It has come to my attention that there are many people from different worlds and time periods here, and as such, I ask that people please fill out the following form, regardless of if you think your world is unusual or not. I'm simply attempting to establish a pattern here.

The name of your world: (Or worlds, if you are familiar with more than one. This is largely to keep track of alternate dimensions of the same world as well as to see if there is a pattern in points of origin.)
The time period you are from: (If at all possible, a parallel to Earth years would be useful, as that is what I am most familiar with and it will be useful in establishing a baseline.)
The standard technology level of your world: (A general overview of what technology is commonplace. There is no need for specifics, I am simply after details like communication systems, transport, and the like. In particular, are you from a time period where space or cross-dimensional travel is commonplace?)
Less common technologies that might be of interest to the institute: (No doubt obvious, but if we are able to establish some theories about what might be at work here, we can try to combat it.)

I will ask further questions if the answers call for them.

You serious? ... Jeez, I guess you are. I haven't been hiding my identity at all, actually. I'm Yuffie.

And it isn't, but like I said before: your crappy forging skills offended me, so I'm holding onto it. You share, I share.

You probably have, since I'm all over this thing. Especially when Lulu's involved. He's fun to pick on.

Why not just use a general anon, instead of sucking suckily at pretending to be -- oh, because Lulu's making a name for himself and the info network. Still, the least you could do is make it more authentic.

You could also just scribble your name down and remove it real quick. :)

Have you tried creating a separate, fleshed out persona? 'Cuz this is just gonna attract attention of another kind, as you've already seen.

Aside from my word and the promise of sticking a thousand needles in my eye if I lie or betray you, there's really nothing else I can offer somebody this paranoid.

I could come up with something for you, if you're really this desperate to protect your identity. I'm a ninja; I pull this crap all the time.

If you wanna meet me, you can meet me. Unlike some people, I've got nothing to hide.

Now who's the one assuming? The Network needs all the help it can get.

Is somebody really out to get you, then? Huh. Makes two of us!

Er, the information network that Lulu's (that's Lelouch) been working on setting up? Gathering and redistributing information, etc. Recon, intel, and tl;dr bulletin board surveys galore.

I wasn't sure if I really believed you or not, and I'm not gonna get into a pissing contest with you about who's in more trouble. Your Trouble doesn't come with green eyes and silver hair, though... Does it?

It means 'too long, didn't read', and Lulu is the master of it. Except I usually find myself reading it anyway, go figure. The monster reports and his work on the Institute's timeline are posted every day, and you can usually count on at least a few other surveys popping up here and there -- like this one.

Hmm. Mine comes in a trio, but we've only got two so far. The green-eyed one -- he doesn't keep his hair tied back, does he?

You can't blame people for wanting to have a bit of fun in a dump like this. D'you already have specific areas and ideas you wanna work on? You could always talk to him about getting involved.

[identity profile] thatdamnedninja.livejournal.com 2009-08-20 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm gonna ask you what his name is.

Hey! Who said anything about me? I don't pester just anybody, I'll have you know. Oh, you guys have spoken already? That's cool. If it comes to it, I could always pass a message for ya.

[identity profile] thatdamnedninja.livejournal.com 2009-08-20 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
AHA, that's… That sucks, but it's not who I thought it could be. And I'm not gonna go tattle on you, geez. Don't you have anybody who can help you defend yourself?

No, you just caught my interest. Dropping a message by him miiiiiight be a good idea, yeah, and the sooner the better. So, d'you wanna see my survey answers? :P

Sounds like you're in a bit of a pickle. Don't guess you wanna talk about it? And if you're worried, you could try one of the clubs that emphasise self-defence training.

Well, that is why I offered. I'll be working with his partner tonight.

World: Gaia, often just called the Planet.
Time period: εуλ 2010.
Technology: We've got some anti-gravity technology, like the boards, bikes, and scooters (mostly WRO issued, otherwise hella expensive). And then we've got cars, motorbikes, airships trains, etc. Since Meteorfall we haven't been using mako for anything, so technology kind of took a huge downward slump while we were looking for replacements. We also lost the tech to manufacture materia, since, yeah. Materia, mako, you don't usually get one without the other. Almost everyone has a cellphone now, and the WWN (World Wide Network) was opened up to the public. We barely even have space travel, so cross-dimensional is right out.
Weird technology: Materia, I guess. The stuff ShinRa developed had properties you'd never ever find growing naturally. A lot of the other advanced technology was lost when ShinRa fell and Midgar got flattened, as well.

A pinch. A conundrum, a sucktastic situation.

Hm, of course, no problem! There's nothing I can really suggest instead, but if you ever want my help, just ask! The Great Ninja Yuffie specializes in rescuing damsels in distress, knights in shining armor, and everything else beyond and between.

Yup, his partner. They've got a pretty weird relationship, soooo that's the only thing I can think to call it. A note would be perfect.

That's just how years are denoted on calendars n' stuff; it means 'era', basically. Mako is the liquid form of the Lifestream, which is the spirit energy that gives life to the Planet and everything on it. It used to be the biggest source of energy around, never mind the whole 'whoa we're kinda killing the Planet major-style here' thing. Materia is super condensed, crystallized mako. You use it to tap into the power of the Lifestream and cast magic, etc. I think that's it…
