To those who are well-versed in Earth's history and claim to be from the early 21st century or beyond:

World War I
World War II
Brush Wars
Cold War
Eugenics Wars

Are there any conflicts on this list that are unfamiliar to you? If so, which ones?

Your input on this matter would be most helpful.

I apologize, but these Brush and Eugenics Wars are both foreign to me. I do also have to wonder about not including the Holy War on that list.

I'm with the guy above me, except I don't know about any Holy War, either.

World War I, World War II and the Cold War are common knowledge for anyone who stayed awake during school. I'm unfamiliar with the Brush and Eugenics Wars, however. Am I to assume from the order that the Brush Wars happened between WWII and the Cold War?

Yeah, have to go with the general consensus so far. WWI, WWII, and Cold War are common in [slight hesitation] my time. Never heard of the other two, or any Holy War.

The term 'brush wars' is used generically to describe small regional conflicts but to my knowledge there is no conflict identified by that name alone. I also am not aware of any Eugenics Wars on Earth.

World War I is especially familiar to me... The Brush Wars and Eugenics Wars are not familiar to me. This list does not include what I know as the first and second Rikti Wars, among other less notable conflicts.

Are you confused as to the differing timelines of the dimensions inmates have been taken from?

I have never heard of the Brush Wars nor of the Eugenics Wars. The other three are quite familiar to me.

I've never heard 'Brush Wars' used to refer to a specific set of conflicts. I've never heard of the Eugenics Wars at all.

Is it safe to assume these are listed in chronological order?

The Brush Wars and Eugenics Wars are unfamiliar to me. The list does not include the Solar Wars, which took place in my world during the mid-to-late twenty-third century.

I'm from six days before the start of the twenty-first century, and the two I don't know are the Brush Wars and the Eugenics Wars. The Cold War is ending, but the wall between the East and West still exists inside too many people to call it truly over.

[identity profile] stiffserpent.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm going to make a really wild out-there guess that you're not familiar with The Mercenary War, right? Although it's hardly on the scale of those conflicts you mentioned that I recognised.

No Brush Wars (what the heck?) or Eugenics Wars. I've heard of the Cold War, but I don't think it was a real war.

[identity profile] stiffserpent.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You're wrong. A war isn't something that can be defined as easily as an official statement, or the actions of the two sides. The Cold War was forged in the split between East and West, Communism and Capitalism, with fear being the only reason preventing the deaths of billions of people. Proxy battles were held in South African states, civil wars deliberately stirred up between ethnic groups, each side funded by a single superpower. It was the first 'World War of Information' fought through sponsorship and manipulation, and with propaganda and lies. The populace of every country was sculpted into a perfe [here the script suddenly loses colour. Embossed scribbles on the edge of the paper indicate that his ballpoint pen has run out of ink.]

[It continues rather unceremoniously in pencil.]
You're wrong.

Going with the masses on this one. WWI and WWII are familiar. Cold war is familiar. Never heard of the other two. The big conflict you missed, as far as I can tell, is the Vietnam war in the 60's and 70's.

What is this Eugenics War, anyway? I'm curious.

Yeah Ive heard of some of those... have you ever heard of the first + second network crisis? AKA Pluto's Kiss + Pluto Again.

Eugenics Wars? KHAAAAAN?

1988, heard of WWI and WWII and the Cold War. "Brush Wars" sounds like a nice victor's whitewash for 'Nam and Korea and all those little Southeast Asian squabbles Americans can't tell apart with a concordance, a map, and a Catholic-school nun teaching history with a ruler. Add Iran/Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Chad, Libya -- pretty much the whole damn Middle East. Really, the entire fucking world, most of the time. But if your Earth's anything like mine, that shouldn't be a surprise.

21st century? Earth? Seriously. Well, I guess the majority of 'patients' here are from before me....

Don't know any details, but those are probably way back when, if you say they happened on Earth. How weird.

You know, you could have just asked if anyone's heard of the Eugenics Wars.

And before you ask, I have never heard of them. Or any of the wars you wrote down
