To those who are well-versed in Earth's history and claim to be from the early 21st century or beyond:

World War I
World War II
Brush Wars
Cold War
Eugenics Wars

Are there any conflicts on this list that are unfamiliar to you? If so, which ones?

Your input on this matter would be most helpful.

"Universe?" Are you suggesting that not only are we brought in from different time periods, but universes as well? I shouldn't be surprised.

From where I was from, it was a global struggle between humankind and Gears lasting from 2074 until 2175.

Your "Brush Wars" sound kind of like the Korean and Vietnam Wars. As for the "Eugenics Wars," though...I'm a product of the 1990s, and I can pretty confidently say that what you're describing is science fiction, not fact.

They both sound familiar and both correlate with the history I am familiar with in some ways, yet they're still radically different.

Gears are lifeforms that have either been genetically altered or created to be infused with Magic, a limitless power source, and ultimately turning them into bioweapons capable of mass destruction. Most have been destroyed with very few exceptions.

I see. If you need any assistance with that goal, I will gladly help.

Yes, Gears. You know of them?

[identity profile] stiffserpent.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
We've had a couple of run-ins in the past.

I never expected them to carry on going for so long, although I can't say I'm surprised.

If it is any small comfort, humans were victorious over them.

So the political initiatives aiming towards Metal Gear disarmament succeeded?

[identity profile] stiffserpent.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Then what are you talking about?

[identity profile] poolcuemurder.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a small arrow pointing to the conversation below]

And yourself?

A nuclear-equipped walking battle tank, capable of reaching any location on Earth for an unpredictable, indefensible missile launch.

Blacktech, then. I've never heard of those, though I do know tanks and nuclear weapons have all but been eradicated and banned in most countries.

Gears? What's this struggle with Gears you've mentioned?

[identity profile] poolcuemurder.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
In 2014, a group of scientists began what is known as The Gear Project, dedicated to genetically engineering and strengthening various lifeforms on Earth through the use of Magic. It was said to be a failure and the idea was scrapped, but in 2073 it was restarted and the group created their first perfect Gear a year later: Justice. This only led to the creation of more and more Gears, including humans who had been converted into them as well as the complete Gears.

Late 2074, the Gears rebelled against humanity under orders of Justice and destroyed Japan, leading into a war lasting over a hundred years.

I see. Your Gears aren't the Gears from my own homeworld, then. I've run into very few people who used the term, and it caught me by surprise!
