There's a difference between what people say and how these things work. Just like when a woman tells you she doesn't care about your anniversary and it's okay if you just get her something cheap, she knows you work hard and what your salary's like, only to blow up when you bring home the cheap flowers you picked off your neighbor's lawn even if the flowers are fresh and she said she liked them up until the minute she saw the cheap Kleenex you wrapped the stems in instead of doing the smart thing and adding a ribbon or putting them in water.

I'm going to interrupt here, but only to take away your excuse:

Kaneyoshi had nothing to do with what I did yesterday, nor was he aware of my plans. If he had been, I think he would have been in the restaurant as well.

And so far as the attempted bribery goes, it's fairly basic to use whatever you can to your advantage, isn't it? I think it would have worked if I'd had more packets.
