There's some here that can create items that are explosive in nature. But for most, escape as it were, isn't the issue. Some people are missing powers or abilities, even their true form--things that make them who they are. Even if they left that way, would it really be called escape or freedom if they're still encased in what the Institute has trapped them in?

The same goes for where people have been taken from. Alternate worlds, different planets, different times. Most would like to go home, not just outside.

I believe that's why we're trying to understand and take it down, rather than merely blow it up.

A bomb large enough to do substantial structural damage to the institute would take far more supplies than we would be able to collect in a single night or store over multiple nights. Simply because something is explosive doesn't mean it can take out a building.

Brainwashed patients have damaged parts of the institute before. They revert to their original state at the end of night. You're assuming that whatever's controlling this is stationed in the institute, and we have no reason to believe that's the case.

Explosives could serve a purpose in opening up more of the institute to exploration, but demolishing the thing isn't an option.

As Renamon pointed out above, "escape" means different things to different people.
