Unless you claim to be the only genius here, or happen to have been unsuccessful in creating an explosive device, then I don't see why you should take offence at this, as it's hardly directed at you and you alone.

I take offense to it because he is questioning our intelligence based on our inability to decimate the staff, head doctor, and building in his allotted time schedule. However he's being rather violent about it, isn't he?

The statement is so general and clearly directed at the inhabitants at large, so I fail to see why you would assume it is directed at those of us who are legitimate geniuses. After all, people will often use the term 'genius' as an insult with little provocation.

Provided that the word is in quotes, I read it to mean that while we ourselves are geniuses, he is questioning our status as such. I do not believe he thinks everyone in the building is a genius, and if so, why put the word in quotes?

Equally he could be using the quotes to signify that "geniuses" is intended as a general insult to all of the people who comment frequently on this board with new information about this facility; perhaps trying to indicate that if they are smart enough to do this, why have they not destroyed our captors?

After all, I doubt there are many who could be considered legitimately a genius, and as he doesn't appear to have known about you (assuming you are in fact intelligent enough to warrant such a term), I doubt he was trying to insult you in particular.
