You don't say? Well, there was no indication that this "bread", was to be eaten in such a manner. I would think that these "toppings" would make a mess of your hands while you eat the food.

Normally they are not. However, I am now made of flesh, and chewing stuff like a crunching-machine. It's rediculous.

There are three utensils the Institute provides in order to facilitate the patients in eating - a knife, a fork and a spoon. A fork looks like this (drawing of a fork), a spoon like this (drawing of a spoon), and a knife like this (hello little knife drawing). Forks are the most basic and used to eat solid foods. Spoons are for liquid foods like soups.

Using a fork would keep your hands from getting messy♥
