Friends, I have made it outside this cursed place only to discover a far worse fate waits for us beyond these walls. Just when I thought it couldn't get any more horrid and dreary for us, I discovered why it is exactly that they keep us locked up here-- the alternative is unspeakable. There is no respite from pain and suffering here; the outer world only holds more horrific realities.
I shouldn't say much more- I can't have them discover my identity.
Suffice to say, it is better to accept the misery here than it is to long for something on the other side.

Possibly he's affiliated with the staff: their minds are unreachable as well. And I'm sure they'd just love to deter us from trying to leave...

And there is no need to escape or create when this world may be taken for our own. Keep your misery.

Perhaps you were mistaken. Some people try to escape their prisons, but do it by entirely wrong means, and only face destruction or going back to where they came from. I have seen it happen. At times, they can be stuck in denial for years.
Nothing is as simple as turning a key and opening the door.
