If it makes you feel any better, they seem to have our original bodies on ice. Whether or not these had previous occupants, I'm not so sure.

That is not reassuring. However, this body is as much mine I do not believe this one did.

There are different rules about bodies one is [tap] not using at the time, where I come from. What has made you think ours are icy?

Figure of speech. Back home, if I had unlimited resources and an equally unlimited lack of ethics, that's how I'd do it. Failure rates would run -- I don't even want to think about it.

That's not how it's working here, though I don't know what is. Not everyone here has brains that would even fit in a human body.

They brainwash a few people every other night, into working for them. When they do that, they get their bodies back. That's how we know they have them somewhere.

There is nothing in my experience similar enough to draw a comparison. The body one is [tap] not using is not empty, in my world. It is [tap] elsewhere, and inaccessible, which is disturbing enough. Do you know I begin to think you and I should speak in person, too.

Just like home the place I grew up. It doesn't get any less horrifying with familiarity. Just less surprising.

A little while ago, some of us woke up with the memories of the people they claim that we are, the ones that correspond to these bodies. I still don't know how to explain that.

The body switch thing is new to me. Everything else is either subpar or far better off than home.

But no one I know of back home could do that to people. If there's a guy who owns this body, then he'll have a hell of a thing to wake up to if he ever gets it back.
