[writing is bold and messy]

To all warriors and fighters of every style and art!

I got a question for ya!

What's the essential quality of a true warrior?!

Gimme your answers, will ya?!

-Sechs

And don't give me any crap!

A real warrior is intelligent enough to know that nothing is static. If you only count on brute strength and the same old tactics again and again, you won't last long.

Bravery!

A true warrior is someone who can kill the enemy before being killed/maimed/incapacitated. Otherwise they are useless as a warrior really.

[identity profile] no-barbarian.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
A real warrior knows there's always another fight! You're not defeated until you give up BUT MOSTLY UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.

And when you give up you're a loser and a weakling and you deserve what you get.

Being able to put absolutely everything on the line to accomplish your goal.

Heart.

Have you ever seen a Care Bear Stare? You can drop the goddamn nuke on their faces but those fuzzy little assholes will come back and end you with love.

Heart, huh?

That's way too cool of an answer for you!!

Well, if the other guy has it and you rip it out or put a bullet in it, you win.

Care Bears are fearsome, man. Fearsome.

How would you define 'true warrior'?

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Fortitude - both of the body and mind.

There. Now answer my question.

We will take the subjectivity of the definition of "true warrior" as a given.

In that case, the answer to your question is relentlessness.

["Relentlessness" has been circled.]

A true warrior is one who can fight and win without needing to pull his or her weapon.

[identity profile] notachick.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
The body counts as a weapon, so yes. If one can win without fighting, one has become a true warrior.

Perhaps when you understand how a warrior can without without fighting, you'll understand my definition of a true warrior.

Well, first off, you study it all - the wings, the crowd, your face - you’re gonna end up like one. Oh, and travel away, travel it all away! And say "The road’s gonna end on me."

For me, I stand on my feet, dance the warrior, the warrior. Where would I be? I’d be a warrior, a warrior.

Crap, I can't remember the rest! Curse you lack of Google!

Okay, for serious, awesomeness is the one big word I'd use to qualify a fighter/warrior-type person. Pretty much covers everything, wouldn't you say? If you fight and you're not awesome in some way, you're doing it wrong.

Strength!!!

And after that comes persistence. Discipline's there, too!! You gotta train both your body and your mind!

Devotion to a cause. Doesn't matter if it's a person, group or idea.
But without that, you are nothing more than a violent animal who needs to be put down.

All warfare is based on deception.

The first thing needed is a strong will and determination. Without the resolve, nothing will begin. A weak willed person will not train, nor will he have the courage to step forward and fight. From there, things like training will follow, so the individual will grow and discover their own path.

Initiative.

Think for yourself and act in accordance with the desired outcome. If you're a soldier, follow orders given, but don't wait for orders that may never come at the expense of losing favorable conditions. Inactivity is worse than taking the wrong course of action. Fear of defeat is crippling; dare to lose and you may yet win.
