I used to be on varsity. Have you played?

That's great! I only played a little bit when we did it for gym class. I was on the judo and karate teams though. At least up until last year.

I was the star sweeper of the Upper St. Clair High School Panthers. What position did you play?

Position? Um, well we usually just ran around on the field and tried to get to the goal. I don't know if we ever really assigned positions. That's more something Kuze-san would know about. Sorry! But it's neat that you were so good! I bet it's tough since we don't get to play outside so much here. :(

I don't play anymore. I'm sad about it, but it's safer that way.

That's too bad. Did you have an accident? Sports can get kind of dangerous, can't they? I've gotten lots of twisted ankles and bruises from martial arts and things like that.

I am very [inkblot] competitive. That means my emotions are easily affected. When that happens, I am in danger of losing control.

Trust me. It's safer for everyone else if I never play again. I still miss the game.

I'm sorry, it must be really hard for you.

But enough about the gloom and doom. This is supposed to make us happy, yes?

Maybe start with something small instead of a bunch of things together? Then you can take the time to get that just right.

I used to play soccer, too. Maybe we should organize a game sometime.

I'd like to, but I shouldn't play. I don't even know if the nurses would let me.

I guess not then. That's a shame, though. Do you play any other sports?

Just what we had to in gym class. I was always the girl the boys picked first, so I guess they thought I was a good athlete. [inkblot]That was before they started avoiding me, though.

Well, once you get out of here, I'm sure they'll be picking you again. :) I bet there's some sport we can find for you to play here. The rec field's no fun if you just play by yourself!

I hope so. I kind of want to finish high school. Maybe go to college. I'm not sure what I want to be, though.

I hope college is still an option for me. I'm not sure what I want to do, either, but I'm looking forward to it!
