[First note, addressed to Wally, is a tightly folded piece of paper pinned to the board]

It's Chihaya. I'm so sorry for last night. Please forgive me.

[Second note, open and for all to see]

I was wondering if everybody here has sinned? I'm not asking people to confess what they've done, I'm just curious to know if we're all linked by something like that?

Some religions, particularly many sects of Christianity, believe that humans (or others, I suppose, 'human' seems to be optional around here) are "sinners" from the day they are born regardless of actual deeds and thoughts.

Which religious sect are you referring to, and which definition of sin?

By Christian standards (assuming the broadest and most generic, allowances can be made for specific sects) I'm sure I've sinned at some point in my life. I'm not a terribly religious person.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I know there are many, many supernatural beings and creatures in the universe, some who could be considered gods (in the classical sense). I've just never found myself worshiping any of them.

As for worshiping or having faith in something larger, of a more Christian bend...it brought my mentor great comfort but nothing about it drew me in.

I've had proof of so many strange things that perhaps I have no room left to have faith in any of them.

"We"?

[Handwriting becomes shaky after this point]

May I ask what you are, if you aren't human?

[Handwriting normal again]

I'm not sure myself. I've had a bad night; I might just be babbling nonsense at this point. But the idea of faith in a being without proof of its existence doesn't catch my interest. I suppose you could call me an informed agnostic?

I'm not afraid. I've met angels before. Well, an angel. It was a fearsome creature but I don't believe it held any malice for us.

Oh, the handwriting? Momentary headache, it makes it hard to write.

As I said. I've had proof of things so strange that most people wouldn't even have faith in them, for things without proof I attempt to retain a calm skepticism.

It wasn't exactly a Valentine's Day card's cherub, no.

It's better now, the headaches pass quickly.

I didn't know angels could mature. What did you look like, before?

[identity profile] bprd-fishman.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Before, I presume, you became human as we all did.

[identity profile] bprd-fishman.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So you would be a very different kind of angel from the one I encountered. Far less scary, I think.

A tall androgynous being, wrapped in ragged cloth. It spoke in a soft voice and did not seem to be interested in either pointless kindness or mindless cruelty towards us, but responded more with mild amusement or disinterest. The voice was harsh but not completely unpleasant. I doubt it displayed anywhere near its full range of abilities, but it saved my friend's life when he was near death. The impression I got from it, psychically, was tremendously powerful and I dared not try to read it further.

[There is also a small, careful sketch of something vaguely shaped like this. (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/hellboy/images/f/ff/Angel_of_death.jpg) A few arrows are drawn to the dots on the pairs of wings to label them 'eyes'.]

Healed him and removed a magical artifact that was working its way towards his heart. Quite powerful. I suppose a fellow angel would not be as unnerved by him as we were.

You sound far different from it as well, at least on paper.

I hope you don't take this as an insult because I mean it in the best possible terms, but you seem more human relatable. I would love to meet you at some point.

I'll keep a watch out for you.
