[First note, addressed to Wally, is a tightly folded piece of paper pinned to the board]

It's Chihaya. I'm so sorry for last night. Please forgive me.

[Second note, open and for all to see]

I was wondering if everybody here has sinned? I'm not asking people to confess what they've done, I'm just curious to know if we're all linked by something like that?

You think this has something to do with moral failing? Highly doubtful. Beyond the broad, subjective criteria, I've met few deities who really care at all about 'sin'.

Some religions, particularly many sects of Christianity, believe that humans (or others, I suppose, 'human' seems to be optional around here) are "sinners" from the day they are born regardless of actual deeds and thoughts.

Which religious sect are you referring to, and which definition of sin?

You think we might be here because we did something bad?

I've personally talked with the Yama of my jurisdiction before. Besides the fact that she has yet to pass judgment on me, this was not in any of her descriptions of Hell. I've always thought of myself as more of a gray than a black or white anyway.

What is it that you consider a sin? Do you feel guilt?

If that were the case, there'd be a hell of a lot more people here.

Sinned? You think there's something everyone has done at some point that may have led to being chosen for this place? ...That's an interesting theory.

I think the concept of sinning is complicated, but it might very well be that the people who brought us here might have perceived us as having committed some kind of sin, even if none of us think it to be.

I've done things that I don't believe were wrong, although my countrymen disagreed. Which viewpoint is more valid?

[the note is gone, this is left in its place]

...it's really you? I mean, I saw what happened and I know people are saying not many people actually died but...

Can't really blame me for being suspicious, right?

If that were the case, I expect the patient population would be considerably larger.

There's always a small chance that there are still people that haven't sinned. I, however, have done a large number of sins. Especially against humanity.

[identity profile] opposingheaven.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sin? Oh please. 'Sin' is something that hypocritical gods come up with to enforce rules on mortals that they dodn't even follow themselves.

What do you mean by "sinned"?
