You're mostly correct. There's some disagreement about how independent they truly are when it comes to certain situations that people deem as intuitively 'human', such as emotion. Some argue that even a highly advanced program that can emulate such things as well as any human is still a program and therefore... inferior.

It's a complicated topic.

So some people think that since they're created by people and not natural means, that they're not as good? You're right, it sounds pretty complicated. Still, I'd like to learn more about it.

That's a part of it. Though I suppose people also feel threatened on some level. There's a tendency to think that robots or computers will resent organics. Or that, since they're not natural, they're not as 'real' as a human is.
