[unsigned,handwriting disguised liek woah]
There seem to be quite a few people here who identify themselves as ninja.
They're much more rare where I'm from. Is this different in other places?

My girlfriend's kind of like one, but I've met more here than I thought existed back home. I mean, I know there are probably more than I've gotten to see, but I think that's the point. You know, since you're not supposed to see ninjas?[symbol of banana-looking boomerang]

I don't understand why it's such a big deal. Just because ninja are more rare or less rare, doesn't mean they'll be more or less skilled. Whether you grew up in a big village or just got trained from some old guy in the middle of the woods, it shouldn't matter!

Yes, alright? We have whole villages of ninja. Happy?

As someone else also mentioned above, I'm more familiar with ninja who don't admit what they are. You might understand why I'm confused that you have entire villages of them.

Anyway, it sounds like your other ninja are more like spies or something? We do espionage sometimes, but not primarily. We do a lot of what I guess might be called mercenary work. We get hired out a lot to perform missions, but they can be anything from like, an assassination to undercover work to weeding someone's garden (by the way, that last one is totally not even a Genin rank mission, it's like kid stuff for training ok?). There's one ninja village in each of the main countries. If we weren't there, I think a lot of things would totally fall apart! We train from a young age, go to academy and if you're lucky, you graduate and pass on to become a ninja. It's not something just anyone can do!
Anyway, I don't get why you have to keep that you're a ninja a secret. Most of the ones I know are really proud of what they are! We even have emblems that show what village we're from.

It sounds to me like your definition of "ninja" is simply different from that in other worlds, which would explain the confusion. Espionage is the primary function where I'm from, and that's why their identity needs to be a secret.

It's a definition thing, like you were saying up there.
