As an impartial observer who's been in both your heads, Arty's a hell of a lot smarter than you are. Common sense counts for a lot, and you've got next to none.

True enough. But you have some, which still puts you pretty far ahead of your friend here.

One also has to take into account what sorts of common sense are evident in various worlds, though. For example, it's common sense in Japan to remove one's shoes before entering a house, but in most other countries we tramp across our carpets in shoes.

Unfortunately on Colu, common sense equates with not leaving our homeworld and avoiding contact with other species if at all possible.

I suppose even by my people's standards, I am considered to have little by way of common sense.

That is unfortunate. I've learned a great deal from other species and through studying their technology. And living your life without seeing another country or another world... how tragic.

Not at all, I can see the humor in it now. You had no way of knowing that I'm very touchy about my intellect being seen as sub-par. It comes with the territory of being fourteen, you see.

To be fair, the average intellect is six. And there will always be such things as outliers, after all.

Fourteen? I'd be interested in learning more about your achievements at some point, if at all possible. Perhaps there are points of similarity.
