When I came here I was a little scratched up, but all the injuries are gone. What kind of medical treatment are they giving us?

Also, why bother? I was hurt, but it wouldn't have been a problem. ~~It's different for my fr~~ It's not like I was half-dead; just a little burned and bruised, that's all.

In that case I don't have a clue. Maybe they just want a little variety in their subjects.

Maybe it's some kind of handicap. Subjects who are stronger aren't healed; those who are weaker wake up healed. That way, everyone starts equal.

If people who previously weren't human are being put in human bodies like the others said, then that would suggest they're trying to equalise us physically as much as possible.

And that would suggest this is a psychological experiment rather than a biological one, too.

I figured it was a psych experiment from the start, it seems more intended to mess with our heads than our bodies.

Equalise, though? I'd agree if I didn't have a teammate who's nearly twice my size.

Strength isn't absolute. Sheer size and bulk doesn't always give the upper hand in battle. It's more easy to, and more reliable to, monitor the overall health and skill of a person, especially since close-combat has become less important in war. These days, it's more important to know how to handle a gun than to be a heavyweight.

No. There's too many other physical factors, like agility and pain sensitivity. Still, you're probably right that it's not a handicap. I haven't been here for more than a few hours, but there seems to be a huge proportion of men to women, which doesn't seem right.

That would suggest this place has some kind of military aim, though. What do you think?

Hadn't even noticed the gender thing, I'm used to that level of ratio. You're all extremely pain sensitive to me, I have no idea what the variation is. (Also, what's the heat tolerance on flesh, anyway?)

If they wanted something military they'd make it easier for us to get our hands on weapons or do physical tolerance experiments. This place seems more like Torkulon, an exercise in seeing how long it takes the madhouse to drive us mad.

Even if you can't feel pain yourself, you must know from observation. It's quite psychological, but there's a big physical factor too, like the number of nerve endings and the level of neurotransmitters in the body. Some people can't take much more than a few blows. Other people can walk across a high-voltage electric floor that cooks them from the feet up and carry on going. Some people can tread on a mine and carry on running on their bleeding stump. I've seen it happen.

Anyway, I think the monsters count as a 'physical tolerance experiment'. We fight the monsters, they collect data about our fighting. I don't think just driving us mad is the purpose. There's easier ways to do that.

I can feel pain, my outer covering's just way more sensitive in this body. It starts hurting a lot quicker if I press down on the end of a fork with my fingertip or something like that. I guess it makes sense to have a higher tolerance when you're so much easier to damage, but it's a bit irritating.

...okay, the stump thing I'm pretty sure I can't do in any body. Wow. What the heck kind of crazy people do you hang out with?

Robot, yeah. If by artificial intelligence you mean I've got a ~~CPU~~ mind that was created by somebody else I suppose that counts, but that applies to everyone.

A robot? I didn't know they could make robotic AI this advanced yet.

I'm just going to cut this one off at the pass and say I'm not from Earth or made by humans and in terms of sentience my kind run the same basic gambit from way too smart to really really stupid that yours do. So whoever "they" is are, they didn't make me.

I don't know that much about people, but I have a gut feeling that you should try any story which doesn't involve being a alien space robot.

That said, if you're telling the truth, I guess that means there is intelligent life out there. My Colonel was right.

You sound like a human soldier-type, do you think I could get away with being one? I think I'm technically a lieutenant, although we kind of scrapped the rank system after we ran low on high command. And does Scourge sound humanish enough?

Too much, if you ask me. Humans are all right, but some of the species can blow right off. Especially the ones with tentacles.

I can't imagine even an alien space robot soldier being different to a human one. It's painful to think war isn't solely a human instinct.

In my experience, it's not important for a soldier to have a human name. Scourge will do fine.

Personally I don't care for it much either, but I don't have a choice in the matter. It's either go be shot at or...well, be shot. And my commander's got a pretty big gun. Who's making you fight?

At least four of the robot variety and a couple others I didn't catch the names of. And some guy who's either named Zex or is really popular around here.

Right now, no-one is. I was going to start a new life - a real one. Under no-one's control, and on my own, for myself. Then this place made me a prisoner again, but at least it's not the battlefield I know.

Huh. I guess that works, for a human. I wouldn't exactly have anywhere to go if I left, no one wants to take in a guy on Galvatron's hit list and I've already been there once.

Though come to think of it, this is probably the one place I could stop fighting and do my own thing. Nobody here with a -tron to tell me not to!
