This has probably been asked before, but as I haven't seen anything specifically related to it on the board yet besides this [arrow drawn to here], here it is:

To those of you who have experience with interdimensional travel prior to coming here, how is it accomplished? How about time travel? What are their respective limitations? Which conditions need to be cleared before they can be done? Are there any side effects? What sort of equipment is needed, if any? Any other related information you could supply would be greatly appreciated. It may not tell us specifically how we're being brought here, but comparing and contrasting the different methods should lead us somewhere.

Well, when it comes to Time Travel, the only way I've heard of it being possible is to use something called the Time Gate, but it's on a forbidden planet so it isn't exactly accessible. You have to leave any weapons and modern equipment behind and then you just hope that the Guardian approves your request.

Where I come from, there's an item called the Phoenix Gate. If you have it, all you have to do is think of a moment in time and speak the incantation. It'll transport anyone standing in its flames.

If you spoke to my clan leader he could probably give you the shpeal about time being a river and all that, but the main idea is this: history can't be altered. Things are the way they are despite, or because of, attempts to alter the past. He once went back in time to find out what had happened to another gar someone who'd disappeared forty years ago only to end up bringing him back with him to the future to save his life. Hence the disappearance.

I've used two different devices to travel time in the past. One of them was called the Phase Distorter. It was incapable of transporting living matter through time, so I was scarred horribly. The memory of it haunts me to this day.

The other method, the Time Tunnel, was much better. It could move things through time without any adverse side effects.

Feel free to ask any questions.

So you found out about that too. Whatever they used is probably somewhere on the premises -- shouldn't we also work on finding it?

If you're interested in the facts and sciences as well as metaphysical aspects of travel between dimensions, I'd be willing to meet with you. It's been a personal project of mine, and I've polled some of the patient population that's familar with it as well to gain more knowledge on the subject.

Time travel, however, I am not familiar with.

Interdimensional

You can travel back in time if you can break the speed of light.

There are might be other ways, but I'm not sure how they'd work.

Breaking the speed of light is pretty dangerous though, trust me on this.

I was travelling through Hypertime - that's what they call the different worlds where I'm from - before I was brought here. I used a Hypertime jacket to move to different worlds. I don't know how it worked, it used New Gods technology and was kind of busted up when we got it. A nuclear explosion was needed to give the jacket enough power for me to start moving and I don't think it worked very well - it was out-of-control, flinging me about to different worlds like a pinball. The jacket was also DNA specific so no one else could use it. Sorry, I know this doesn't help much but it's all I know.

There was a guy named Black Zero who was some sort of threat on several of the world's I visited so he must have a way of travelling through Hypertime. But no one here has heard of him.

I know time travel is possible too but I don't know how it works. I've been to the future - like a thousand years ahead of my time. There's a guy here who might be able to help there, his name's Brainiac 5 and he was the one to make the time travel thing I used. Got to warn you though, he's a complete and utter jerk.

Don't know about interdimensional. Time, though:

Twice when space/time was damaged by massive explosions. First time, got home by throwing comet into planet I was standing on. Second time, don't remember-- died and snapped back. History stayed same in both cases, as far as I know.

Once by intervention of a being that could do the timetravel naturally, in pursuit of someone who had gotten their hands on an alien time travel machine and had changed history too much. Remembered it all afterwards; fixed it by keeping person's parents from meeting, snapping history right again.

I am doubtful my word will be of any use to the most of us, or maybe I will be pleasantly surprised by the future outcome. However it goes, I don't mind contributing to this cause.

I am unable to say anything on time travel, as it has not yet been proven possible-- for myself, that is. Interdimensional, however; yes, I have frequently traveled between two worlds, with the only way to get from one to the other is to pass through a television screen. Any can be used, as long as you have a certain ability. There are no limitations to speak of, nor are there side effects just by simply crossing.

I knew someone who had the ability to travel through time. He didn't need any equipment to do it, and I don't think there were any side effects.

I just shorten the gap between one world and another, then cross the border between them.

Time's a little messier, but the same idea applies.

In my experience, most dimensional travel is done using sophisticated portal equipment. A large amount of power is required to maintain a portal, and you also need to know the 'dimensional coordinates' of the dimension you are traveling too. Though if you don't care where you end up it's much easier.

Dimensional travel is done several times a day where I'm done by various expeditions exploring other dimensions, though I myself have not been directly involved.

Likewise, for time travel, temporal coordinates are required, though this is much less common because the technology isn't widely available.

As for side effects, the only one I'm aware of occurs when a being of sufficient power is in a dimension where they already exist with significant power as well. In that case, the non-native or second version is out of phase, and unable to damage or be damaged by material or beings native to the dimension in question.
