I am admittedly unfamiliar with how "hospitals" like this are supposed to work. However, is it not unusual that there are children as well as adults here - at least in regards to the lack of separation?

How are they explaining minors being institutionalized here? What are the supposed crimes?

[Added on:] I'm asking after the details, if they've been given. For example, someone I know has been told they tried to kill someone, but is certain it didn't actually happen.

It is not a crime that they claim have placed us here, but a mental illness - delusions. I believe they claim the children's parents or legal guardian committed them.

That depends on the type of hospital the person has been placed in. Regardless, their daytime cover is that we're here to get better. What other information do you wish?

If you wish to learn the details of the lies we're told, I suggest you examine some of the patient files, both the ones on the first floor as well as the ones on the second if you wish to compare current 'patients' to the ones that are no longer here.

All conversations I've had with the staff regarding the situation as they see it lead me to believe that the daytime cover is so thoroughly crafted and thought-out that to the ignorant on the outside, it would appear legitimate.

If you need insight on the thoughts of those that help facilitate the facade of this place, perhaps the doctor's offices should be your focus. Most doctors, especially ones in places such as this, keep journals with their personal insights about their patients. One may have decided to leave his journal here. Sources that will remain unnamed have implied that the doctors are aware of who we really are.

As for there being an 'outside' not part of this place, the question that must be posed is whether this place is located in a dimension or plane of existence that simply presents itself as being in the United States of America on the planet Earth. If that is the case, then I cannot answer anything regarding the 'outside' world. But, if this place in an anomaly within the United States of America, then I do believe there is an outside that does not conform to this charade.

I am from the United States of America. The world is a big place and no time in the known history of my world has one organization been able to subjugate the entire planet under its rule.

Should you wish anything further from me - ask. I may be inclined to discuss things with you again.

Dude it's a crazy supervillain's prison. I don't think they need a reason to lock us up.

Well, minors can be hospitalized if their parents decide they need it, right? How old does someone have to be to be considered an adult around here, anyway? I'm guessing it's not 20...

Should this place actually follow the societal standards of the country it claims to be in, the age of adulthood is eighteen.

That makes sense, I guess. Thanks.

If we're going by the American model, then a facility this size should have a pediatric ward. I can't really explain why it doesn't, since I only arrived this morning, but you've raised a valid point.

As for our "crimes"? I doubt there are any. This appears to be a hospital for the insane, not the criminally insane. We're well-guarded, but not to the degree that we'd be in some prison hospital.

I suppose it depends on your definition of 'child'. I've seen no one here who hasn't yet reached the age of puberty. Though of course I can hardly claim to know everyone!

Odd, I was wondering something along those lines myself today...

I'm 15, and in my case, they've claimed I was hospitalized for anorexia. They said my parents sent me here.

I'm a goddess... I can guess what my supposed big sister would have said if I asked why I'm here. But nobody's said a thing to me about it except for on the first day when I asked, and they're not sending me to any shrinks.

Not aside from the nurses pestering me about whether I'm eating. I'm not anorexic or anything, really.

Keeping adults with kids is weird for a so-called mental hospital, but lemme tell you, what's even weirder is us violent cases being kept with the general population. Unmedicated. I've never been in a mental hospital before that didn't keep me in a padded room, in restraints, and/or drugged to the gills.

I can't legally buy alcohol in the US, but by most other definitions I'm an adult.

And I'm a serial killer. I should think that qualifies as "really" violent. Even my allies used to keep me locked up half the time. I honestly have more freedom in this place than I have anywhere else in the last decade or so.

[anon because he doesn't want to have to explain]

Don't think we're all minors just because we're small.

And I heard it was because we're delusional. Like someone else said, this isn't a prison, it's a "hospital", even though I'm not getting any treatment for my so-called delusions.

Yeah, I'm grouped with the kids, but I'm not a minor. I'm pretty used to having to pretend I'm a kid, since it was...kind of a problem back home, but it bugs me sometimes when people make those kinds of assumptions.

No problem.
