I am admittedly unfamiliar with how "hospitals" like this are supposed to work. However, is it not unusual that there are children as well as adults here - at least in regards to the lack of separation?
How are they explaining minors being institutionalized here? What are the supposed crimes?
[Added on:] I'm asking after the details, if they've been given. For example, someone I know has been told they tried to kill someone, but is certain it didn't actually happen.

I was more interested in the details in the stories the staff tells, as well as confirmation that the set-up would be considered unusual. Yes, I already know that this place is not normal.

All conversations I've had with the staff regarding the situation as they see it lead me to believe that the daytime cover is so thoroughly crafted and thought-out that to the ignorant on the outside, it would appear legitimate.

I see. Then do you think there is an 'outside' that is not already in on the whole thing?

As for there being an 'outside' not part of this place, the question that must be posed is whether this place is located in a dimension or plane of existence that simply presents itself as being in the United States of America on the planet Earth. If that is the case, then I cannot answer anything regarding the 'outside' world. But, if this place in an anomaly within the United States of America, then I do believe there is an outside that does not conform to this charade.
I am from the United States of America. The world is a big place and no time in the known history of my world has one organization been able to subjugate the entire planet under its rule.

Most mentions of the phenomenon I've heard references different 'worlds.' I've met people who claim to be from the same place I am, yet the histories and current events they are familiar with are quite different than my own. I believe I still need more information to make theories of my own on the matter.

And yes, it's true that there's no reason for them to 'lock us up,' so far as I'm aware. However, they do have stories that they'll present if needed- about our lives that they made up to justify keeping us here.

As for our "crimes"? I doubt there are any. This appears to be a hospital for the insane, not the criminally insane. We're well-guarded, but not to the degree that we'd be in some prison hospital.

As evidence in what I said before, and in one of the other responses I have received, there are some who have been told that they were 'criminally' insane. But yes, the security here seems hardly sufficient if that were actually the case.

Odd, I was wondering something along those lines myself today...

And I'm a serial killer. I should think that qualifies as "really" violent. Even my allies used to keep me locked up half the time. I honestly have more freedom in this place than I have anywhere else in the last decade or so.
[anon because he doesn't want to have to explain]
And I heard it was because we're delusional. Like someone else said, this isn't a prison, it's a "hospital", even though I'm not getting any treatment for my so-called delusions.
Re: [anon because he doesn't want to have to explain]
Lack of actual treatment does seem to be the consensus. Thank you.
Re: [anon because he doesn't want to have to explain]
No problem.
