There's the question of motive.

If this Jack or Alec or however the fuck he wants to be called is fighting for a "loved one", then he can very well turn on any of us if it fits his agenda.

Under the current circumstances, I don't think that turning on us in favor of our dubious ringmaster will in any way benefit him in the long run, and I'm sure he knows it.
