For those familiar with other worlds:

Were you previously able to travel between the separate worlds?

If so, what were the methods you used?

Thank you for any information you may offer.

If you are not comfortable discussing this topic here, would you be willing to meet with me to discuss it?

-R.

Where I come from, those who don't exist in the light or dark are able to create our own pathways called the Dark Corridor to travel between worlds. People who have control over the darkness can use them as well.

Normal people just use special ships called Gummi ships. It's a bit confusing, but I can explain more if you wish?

That would be fine, R. Just let me know what shift you would like to meet me in. The Sun Room would probably be best!

Hey, thanks for letting R. know about it. Saves me the trouble of explainin' it myself. Uh... and dittos, too.

Methods for traveling weren't generally known to the average individual. For those who were more aware of our world's duality, portals both artificial and natural existed between the two worlds. Sometimes an individual or two will slip through one side or the other. Being caught in a portal at the moment of its creation can have odd effects.

I wouldn't mind meeting to discuss this sort of thing, but I value my privacy very much. If we could arrange a time and place tomorrow, I wouldn't mind speaking with you. I'm rather curious myself about your own world's situation. Since we do all seem to be trapped in yet another plane of existence, it seems topical.

*same*

How about tomorrow morning at breakfast, then? And how will I know you?

In my world, I know that some individuals were able to use an innate kind of control to form portals into another space. As well, magic could be used to access some other realms, to say nothing of rumors of aliens... though unfortunately I'm not able to use those means myself, and what I know isn't very specific. My apologies for that.

Doors! It's a most splendid thing, you see, traveling to other worlds! All it requires is finding the right door and there you are standing not in some drum gloomy old place, but a brand new phantasmagoria of color and sights and smells and sounds!

I recommend you try it sometime. I believe everyone should see at least one other world once in their lifetime.

[identity profile] wearyofscreams.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oho! Are you from a Holiday as well?

I found the doors by taking a very long walk and going to a part of the woods I'd never seen before. Quite a spectacular world it is, don't you think? That one could find such magnificence where once we only saw the same old thing?

If you'd like, we could talk. I might be able to help.

Travel between worlds for my species was fairly simple once interstellar travel was perfected, and it can be achieved with almost any starship. As for travel between different stars, we use Hyperspace, an alternate plane of reality that shifts the distance between stars from impossible to reasonable. You "push" into Hyperspace, set your course, and then drop back down into Truespace when you're close enough to your destination.

I do hope this is helpful!

Our methods of travel were between the world and the living and the dead, as I mentioned before.

Do you still wish to know?

There are several different ways, but most of them involve magic. I can try to give you details, but I don't think they'd be much help here.

Direct dimensional transfer with magic or travel through the dimensional sea in appropriate craft. The former is difficult to learn and not widely used.

People in my world are aware of the existence of universes parallel to ours. Being able to travel between them is usually an inborn thing, though. If you want to learn how to do it, you have to join the ChronoGuard, and even then I think a certain knack for it is required.

My dad can do it easily and take people with him if necessary; I'm pretty sure my son can, too. I'm not sure exactly how they manage it, though. Sorry.
