One of the innate abilities that sets my people apart from other species is that we can change shape at will. This place has seen fit to lock that power and stick me in a form that I happen to take quite often (and that I rather enjoy taking), but isn't my natural body.

Normally we wear fake bodies similar to this one, but this one seems to inhibit our abilities, and causes pain when we try to use them.

I wouldn't know if you would consider this 'altered' or not. Your question is vague (and likely intentionally so. Too many eyes read this board.)

There are people in my own world who have the ability to channel the spirits of the dead. The doctors here tried to induce that ability in me; it's left me with what I can only describe as a...reminder. It's a voice in my head that gets louder if I'm in danger.
