And yeah, these are kinda like faces. People use them to show expressions. This one = :) is a smile. And this one = ;) is a wink. Where you close one eye? There's a lot more, it really depends on the person as to what they use, though some a pretty common.

Winking... uh. It can mean a lot of things depending. Like... maybe showing that you're joking about something, or it can have to do with flirting, or just being friendly... It really depends on what else is said.

Well I can kinda see why they might get thrown off by you a little, but I doubt it's anything personal. Besides, I like you, so that's enough for me!

It's more about the context. Like... when I wrote earlier that we could work something out, I wasn't joking around, so it's kinda more like friendly flirting. But if it's something that seems serious and maybe not so nice, but they put that with it, it's to show that they're only joking with you.
