I'm afraid I don't understand. Has something happened to you? I agree this shouldn't be done in public. If you insist, I will abide by your request. I would never force my attention onto someone, but could you agree to meet with me briefly one last time to explain yourself?

You're free to do as you wish. Nothing has changed; this is simply something I should have said earlier for your own sake. You might be happier not to ask questions. You are a good person and I wouldn't wish to see you hurt. Please do not trouble yourself with worries about me.
